How Training Works...

Theory Test

This is a 90 minute classroom style test, similar to the normal driving theory test. There are 100 multiple choice questions and 14 videos with potential hazards for you to spot.

Test of Instructional Ability

This is the final stage. An examiner joins you in the car while you teach. To pass, you will demonstrate that you are a patient, safe and effective driving instructor.

Trainee Licence

After passing parts 1 and 2, you can opt to get a trainee licence. With this you can legally charge for driving lessons before you're fully qualified.

Driving Ability Test

Very similar to the normal driving test, but to a higher standard. The test includes a wide range of road types and traffic conditions.

Our goal isn’t to accumulate as many instructors as possible, nor is it to train as many as we can. Our goal is to be the most efficient – meaning having the right amount of good and honourable instructors in the correct locations where we have high demand for lessons.

If you have been doing this a while, you’ve probably seen many large establishments rise and fall as a result of greed. With just 4 weeks notice to walk away from our franchise, you can trust we are good for the work and, if we can’t help you, guess what? We will be honest with you at the beginning – how’s that for a change?
We provide ongoing support throughout the franchise process, with a full-time office team available to help you manage and maintain your bookings.

No sign writing plastered all over your car

At driveJohnson’s, we know many instructors don’t want to be told they have to drive around/teach with deals splashed all over their car. We understand when you’re not working, you want to switch off or may not want to turn up to personal events promoting us. All we ask is that you use our roof sign provided when you’re teaching your pupils.
